v01.11 Patch Notes


Hello everyone! I know it's been a while since the last update. I had some personal issues and I was working on another project for Quarterly Made Games Hong Kong. However, in light of the increasing coverage from YouTubers, I've decided to put that project on hold and put all my focus on Neophyte. You can expect more updates and even a Steam release within the next 2-3 months!

This is a relatively small update with some balance changes, bug fixes, and quality of life improvements. There's also a brand new enemy type and 2 new levels, so the game is harder and runs will be a little bit longer. New spells and emblems will be included in the next update.

New Content

  • New enemy type: Spinner. When it attacks, the spinner spreads and rapidly rotates its blade wings while accelerating towards the player, stunning itself upon hitting a wall. While the spinner is not attacking, its metal wings are folded around itself providing 85% damage resistance.

 

Changes

Spells

  • While the spell inventory is open, spells equipped in spell slots can now be swapped or unequipped by clicking and dragging them.
  • Channel spell descriptions now include a "hold to channel" hint. (After watching YouTubers, I noticed that several did not realize that they could hold these spells for better effects.)
  • Fireball: Projectile hitbox increased.
  • Lava Chakram: Duration reduced from 7 seconds to 6.5, mana cost increased from 20 to 24.
  • Solar Beam: Damage per second increased from 330% of power to 350%.

Emblems

  • Battle Hunger: Life/mana regeneration bonus per stack reduced from 5% to 3%, duration per stack increased from 3 seconds to 3.5.
  • Crippling Aura: Move speed penalty reduced from 60% to 40%, attack speed penalty reduced from 30% to 20% .
  • Cursed Touch: Chance to fear reduced from 50% to 30%.
  • Dynamo: Damage bonus increased from 60% to 100%.
  • Heavy Hitter: Power bonus increased from 20% to 30%, attack speed penalty increased from 12% to 15%.
  • Mana Shield: Maximum stacks reduced from 8 to 7.
  • Pateince: Power bonus per stack reduced from 18% to 12%.
  • Potion Master: Healing potion drop rate bonus reduced from +60% to +50%. 
  • Psychic Scream: Life lost threshold increased from 35% to 40%,  stun duration reduced from 3 seconds to 2.

Enemies

  • Added a cap to the number of enemies that can exist at any time. Once the cap is reached, no new enemies will spawn until there is space. (This change helps make more defensive focused build viable and should help with performance at later levels.)
  • Enemy life scaling increased from +15% per level to +15.5%.
  • Enemy power scaling increased from +9.8% per level to +10%.
  • Warlock: When warlock shields block incoming damage to enemies, floating text appears above those enemies to more clearly show that the damage was blocked.

Tomes

  • Life regeneration bonus from tomes reduced from +6 per second to  +3.
  • Mana regeneration bonus from tomes increased from +1.44 per second to  +3.00.

Other

  • Maximum level increased from 10 to 12.
  • Fear status effect now applies a 50% movement speed reduction for the duration.
  • Healing potions now expire after 30 seconds. They start flashing after 25 seconds to warn the player that they are about to expire.
  • Game version number now displayed at the top left corner of the screen at all times.

 

Bug Fixes

  • Ingame Discord server link has been fixed.
  • Fixed issue where opening the settings menu would increase the music volume.
  • Spells can no longer be equipped to locked spell slots.
  • Training dummies can no longer drop souls while the Soul Armor spell is equipped.
  • Copies created by illusionist elite enemies can no longer drop healing potions, and they can no longer drop souls while the Soul Armor spell is equipped.
  • Photosynthesis emblem damage bonus is now applied correctly. (After the change to how Solar Beam damage was dealt in the last patch the damage bonus was not applied.)

Can't get past Challenge level 1 now

It seems really cool. Sadly I have M1 Mac so I can't play this game yet, I can only hope that maybe one day you release a Mac version too :)
